The body fat percentage of a human or other living being is the total mass of fat divided by total body mass; body fat includes essential body fat and storage body fat. Essential body fat is necessary to maintain life and reproductive functions. The percentage of essential body fat for women is greater than that for men, due to the demands of childbearing and other hormonal functions. The percentage of essential fat is 3–5% in men, and 8–12% in women (referenced through NASM). [ 1 ] Storage body fat consists of fat accumulation in adipose tissue, part of which protects internal organs in the chest and abdomen. The minimum recommended total body fat percentage exceeds the essential fat percentage value reported above. A number of methods are available for determining body fat percentage, such as measurement with calipers or through the use of bioelectrical impedance analysis .



The body fat percentage is a measure of fitness level, since it is the only body measurement which directly calculates a person's relative body composition without regard to height or weight. The widely used body mass index (BMI) provides a measure that allows the comparison of the adiposity of individuals of different heights and weights. While BMI largely increases as adiposity increases, due to differences in body composition, other indicators of body fat give more accurate results; for example, individuals with greater muscle mass or larger bones will have higher BMIs.

Women tend to have more body fat than men—about five percent more. By nature, a woman's body is developed to protect her and a potential fetus. As a result, women have more enzymes for storing fat and fewer enzymes for burning fat. Additionally, the estrogen women have activates fat storing enzymes and causes them to multiply.



The minimum percent bodyfat considered safe for good health is 12% for females. The average adult body fat is closer to 22%-25% for women. Athletes tend to be at low end of this scale due to the increased lean weight (muscle mass) of top athletes. While low levels of bodyfat seem to be related to improved performance, body composition alone is not a great predictor of sports success. A linebacker needs to have enough body mass (lean and fat weight) to generate high forces and avoid injury. Bodyfat among elite athletes vary largely by sport. There is little evidence benefit when women drop under 14% bodyfat. Women athletes who lose too much fat risk injury. decreased performance and health issues .



Just as too little body fat can cause physiological complications, too much body fat is also harmful. For women over 32% fat, there is a dramatic correlation with illness and disease. Obesity has become a serious health threat for women at every stage of life.

Women experience more changes in hydration levels than men because of their menstrual cycle, and this can affect body fat measuring, particularly using the BIA method. Retaining fluid may also cause weight to fluctuate day-to-day during this period causing additional variation in the body fat percentage.



Female users of BIA products should be aware of their natural monthly body cycles.



To establish a baseline for monitoring body fat, many women find it useful to chart their readings every day for a month. Afterward, monitoring at regular intervals can anticipate monthly fluctuations.



Hormonal changes due to pregnancy or menopause may also cause water retention and variations in measuring. Changes in hydration levels can also be due to food, caffeine or alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, stress or illness, or the taking of prescription drugs.

heyy noha. D look 23.8% body is not considerd fatty for women still its below the acceptable percentage 25%–30% but still it can vary from person to another according to alot of elments and here are some diff sorts of fat percentage categories

Since you are a football player so i think u should be under the laws of atheltes fat percentage :D which is from 16-20%



so thats from my own prospective i think that u should manage to reduce it a little bit :D well but u must know that ur still in the green area :D will thats it which luck and hope u the best of luck
