Woman 911 call shoots intruder

Woman Shoots Intruder During 911 Call

woman shoots, kills intruder

"I think I've killed him"

An intruder who broke into a Lincoln County woman's home was killed early Friday when the woman armed herself and shot him.

Donna Jackson, 57, was asleep when she heard Billy Dean Riley pounding on her back door about 12:45 a. m. Sheriff Chuck Mangion said.

While on the phone with a 911 dispatcher, Jackson went to investigate and Riley tossed a patio table through the glass door before coming inside. She fired one blast from a 16-gauge shotgun, hitting him in the chest, Mangion said.

Deputies arrived at the rural home in the 352100 block of East 800 Road south of Cushing and found Riley, 53, of Sparks lying dead.

Mangion said he smelled of alcohol and had a lengthy history of drug and alcohol offenses.

Riley and his sister, who authorities said was also heavily intoxicated, had been driving east of the woman's house when Riley crashed his pickup truck. It wasn't immediately clear why he went to Jackson's home.

Mangion said the woman was not arrested and appears to have acted in self-defense. She was alone when Riley came to the house.

Jackson was shaken up, but unhurt, Mangion said.

Dramatic 911 Call: Arizona Woman Shoots Intruder Before Cops Arrive

911 audio is now surfacing from an incident in which an Arizona woman shot an intruder. The 47-year-old Phoenix resident called 911 when she realized a man was attempting to break into her home.

Her late husband had taught her how to shoot, so she got her gun and went to hide in the bathroom.

The burglar eventually gained entry through her back door and was shot after he attacked the woman.

The intruder, Michael Lewis (pictured above), spent a month in the hospital following the May confrontation, but will face a judge next month for sentencing.

Listen to part of the call above. More details below from The Arizona Republic :

The 911 tape, released this morning, provides a chilling account of her encounter with Michael Lewis, who used a weeding tool to break the glass in the backyard Arcadia door of her west Phoenix home.

"They've tried my front door, my front door, and now they're trying to break in my back gate…," Cynthia tells the 911 operator at one point. "I have a gun in my hands. I'm terrified."

Later, "Somebody is on my back porch." And then, "Please help me, please!" as the operator assures her that help is on the way.

"They're coming out as fast as they can," the operator says. "Have you heard any voices?"

Cynthia: "Hurry, hurry! They're coming in right now, please, please, please!

As it turns out, the police weren't coming quickly enough. Lewis broke into the bathroom and started attacking Cynthia. So she shot him.

Lewis: "Ow! (Expletive.) What was that? What was that? What was that? (Expletive) did you do?"

Her answer was classic. "Did you think you could beat me half to death?"

Lewis: "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. "

Cynthia: "You bet you're sorry you nasty thing."
