Woman bests ‘Big Texan’ 72 oz. steak challenge TWICE in 20 minutes

AMARILLO, Tex. — The rules. complete a mammoth meal consisting of a shrimp cocktail, baked potato, salad, roll, butter and a 72 oz. steak in one hour. Lose, pay $72 for the meal; win, get commemorated in The Big Texan’s Hall of Fame.

But for Nebraska woman Molly Schuyler, a place in the record books wasn’t enough and one meal wasn’t enough either. Schuyler complete her first ‘Big Texan’ challenge in four minutes and fifty-eight seconds, a new record for the restaurant.

When it came time for seconds, it took her an exhausting nine minutes and fifty-nine seconds. According to KAMR, that’s more than nine pounds of food ingested in less time than it takes to watch a sitcom. The Big Texan’s pitmaster told KAMR that she’s established a new standard.

“She done set the bar for everybody. If you can’t eat two then you’ve done nothing, you know what I’m saying,” Tony Love told KAMR.

Schuyler actually says in the YouTube’s video description that having the steak butterflied was a disadvantage, so that won’t happen the next time when she tries to best THREE challenges in less than an hour.

You’ve heard of eating contests, but have you heard of anyone devouring two 72-oz steaks in 15 minutes?

Meet Molly Schuyler, the dainty woman who did it! Schuyler went to The Big Texan Ranch in Amarillo, Texas to take on their jumbo 72-oz steak challenge, which includes eating one baked potato, a salad, a roll with butter and a shrimp cocktail in one hour or less. But, instead of just eating one meal (which she did in under five minutes), Schuyler proved to the world she could eat two full meals! Keep in mind, the steaks alone weigh an astounding nine pounds!

If you can handle watching this woman in action, watch her take the steak challenge below. On her YouTube page, Schuyler explained her accomplishment doesn’t end here:

“I am going to try and do 3 whole meals under an hour.”

The Lone Star 72 Oz. Steak Challenge.

the steak. Last Wednesday, we finally went to the Lone Star Cafe to take on the 72 Oz steak challenge. 2/3 people who attempted it succeeded and tasted the sweet victory of a huge free steak. ( RECAP: Lone Star Steak Challenge. Training Day 1. Training Day 2. Training Day 3. Training Day 4 ). We called in 2 days before to reserve the steaks and they took our credit card number just in case we didn't show up to eat the steaks. I felt good that day and I prepared myself for the meal (at 9pm) by constantly eating very small bits of food all day (mostly yogourt and fruit). Daniel prepared himself on the day of the steak by playing some rugby to build up an appetite. The third contestant, Yale, went another route as he prepared his body to eat the steak by eating an XL bowl of Pho for lunch (beast!). When we walked into the restaurant, our other friends who came to witness the challenge ordered first and our steaks came soon after. The steaks were 72 Ounces (4.5 lbs) and each one sat on a sizzling hot plate. Each of us had to choose 1 side as well (Daniel and I got the garden salad, Yale got the mashed potatoes with gravy). Right when we sat down, our server brought over some nacho chips as well (Yale also killed these, he just keeps eating!). We all ordered the steaks medium rare, and the y came out to be more like medium (if you want to try it, I would suggest ordering rare). As you can see in the pictures, the steaks are huge! Not only are they wide, but they are really thick. At the thickest point, they were probably over 3 inches thick .

Quick Notes: I could not have completed this challenge without the training that we did. Eating entire cabbages actually stretched my stomach, increased my appetite and helped me mentally when I didn't want to eat any more of the giant steak. In terms of price, this was the "DEAL OF THE YEAR." As you can see in th e picture of the receipt, the two steaks me and Yale finished came to a total of $0. B et ween the 2 of us, that was 144 Ounces of meat + sides for nothing. "Some people run marathons, we eat!"

Here are 2 videos documenting our challenge. lol: 1. before we ate the steak and 2. the process of us eating the steaks.

Molly Schuyler devours two 72-oz steak challenge meals in 15 minutes

“I’ll just have a salad” is often the response of many young women who go out to eat at restaurants today. But not for Molly Schuyler of Nebraska, the woman who shattered The Big Steak Ranch’s record for fastest person to devour their famous 72-oz steak dinner deal within 1 hour.

The Big Texan Steak Ranch has a famous steak dinner challenge that requires you to eat the entire dinner deal in order to get the meal for free.

The dinner deal, which aside from the 72-oz steak, includes a shrimp cocktail, baked potato, salad and a roll, was previously consumed the fastest in 8 minutes and 52 seconds by famed competitive eater Joey Chestnut.

Schuyler hoovered the entire meal in 4 minutes and 58 seconds — but wait, there’s more. Believe it or not, she ate not one, but two of these entire steak dinner deals in less than fifteen minutes!

Just to clarify, that’s two 72-oz steaks, two shrimp cocktails, two baked potatoes, two salads and two dinner rolls in less than 15 minutes. Feel like throwing up yet? Schuyler certainly didn’t. She seemed perfectly at ease plowing through the steak dinners, even commenting to one skeptical onlooker that, “you don’t know me,” as she tossed the last piece of a dinner roll into her mouth, laughing.

You wouldn’t expect a woman of her size to be able to consume that much food, but Schuyler is no stranger to eating contests. Recently, she obliterated the competition when she won the notorious Wing Bowl chicken wing-eating contest in Philadelphia earlier this year.

In 15 astonishing minutes, Schuyler finishes both 72-oz steak dinner deals, barely breaking a sweat.

“We witnessed history,” the restaurant’s co-owner told the Amarillo Globe-News . “If there’s a zombie apocalypse, I want to stay away from this girl.”

A shocking 45 minutes was still left on the clock for her to be able to finish the first steak dinner, but she seemed to have no problem consuming both in record time, earning both meals for free. Must make for cheap date nights with her husband!
