Woman gets hit by train

Woman Hits Train, Then Gets Hit By 2nd Train

Added by Staff on March 16, 2014

A woman was involved in an accident with two trains on October 13th, 2013, and officials say the 29-year-old female suspect was fleeing police when the bizarre car crash occurred. Officials say the woman walked away with only a broken arm.

The wrecked Mercedes sat pinned under the Union Pacific train for several hours after the driver was rushed to the hospital. Detective Adam Osoro of the Woods Cross Police Department described the accident. “It just couldn’t stop in time,” he said of the woman’s car. “It was too close to the incident, didn’t have time to stop.”

At about 8:20 a. m. police responded to an ‘unwanted guest’ disturbance call. In other words, the suspect wouldn’t leave someone’s house. “Our complainant gave a vehicle description of someone that was involved,” Osoro said. “At that time, one of our patrolmen spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it on Redwood Road.” When the woman didn’t pull over for police, a brief chase began. Osoro said it was during the chase the woman and the trains collided. “There was already a southbound train going across 2600 south, and she hit that train while it was crossing,” Osoro said. “While officers were trying to get her out of her car, a second southbound train hit her vehicle.”

Despite the impacts, the woman suffered only a broken arm. “The vehicle sustained heavy damage, so in this case she’s very lucky to still be with us,” Osoro said.

Witnesses involved said alcohol was present at the original location, but police haven’t confirmed whether the woman was intoxicated. Police officials said she faces charges for evading arrest, and additional charges are being investigated.

Porirua is a city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. immediately north of the city of Wellington. with their central business districts 20 km apart. A large proportion of the population commutes to Wellington, so it may be considered a satellite city. It almost completely surrounds Porirua Harbour at the southern end of the Kapiti Coast. The eastern (Pauatahanui ) inlet of the harbour is notable for its world-class estuarine values. The population at the June 2011 estimate was 52,500.

The name "Porirua" is of Maori origin. It is possibly a variant of "Pari-rua" ("two tides"), a reference to the two arms of the Porirua Harbour. The name was given in the 19th century to a land registration district that stretched from Kaiwharawhara (or Kaiwarra) on the north-west shore of Wellington Harbour northwards to and around Porirua Harbour. The road climbing the hill from Kaiwharawhara towards Ngaio and Khandallah is still called Old Porirua Road.

In the 19th century a small European settlement grew up, partly because of the need for a ferry across the harbour. At the time a small Maori settlement already existed.

Ballito is a holiday town located in Kwa-Zulu Natal. South Africa. Ballito is situated roughly 40 kilometres north of Durban. Dolphins are common on this stretch of the North Coast shoreline, hence the nickname Dolphin Coast. (The South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is also picturesquely named the Hibiscus Coast).

The town was established in 1954 as a private township, by the Glen Anil Development Corporation/Investments which was headed up by Dr Edward (Eddie) Rubenstein (1903–1972). The word "Ballito" translated from Italian means "little ball". The town's name was borrowed from a glossy advert for Ballito hosiery made by Ballito Hosiery Limited of St. Albans. England The area was originally portion of a sugar cane farm at Compensation Beach owned by Basil Townsend .

The Sunday Tribune printed in 1954 an advert for Ballito Bay inviting potential investors to the North Coast with prices of land from R790.00 (395 SA Pounds). By 1964 the zonings for Ballitoville's residential buildings, hotels and a caravan park had already been incorporated into the town plan known as Compensation Beach and this area stretched out from Willard Beach to Clark Bay, Salmon Bay and Port Zimbali. A brochure with the first marketing pictures of Ballito, was put out to attract the holiday makers to invest in the area with the slogan: "Buy, Build & Play at Ballito Bay, The Caribbean of the North Coast - Natal". Ballito, Salt Rock and Shakas Rock are favourite holiday destinations for local South Africans and also foreign tourists on their way up to Zululand and the battlefields
